Church History

Fellowship of Love Christian Center (FLCC) was organized and established on February 18, 2007, with 15 committed Christians. FLCC was formed to be embedded in the community and be a strong, Bible Believing, and Teaching Community Church. It was organized under the leadership of Chaplain Patrick Easley, Rev. Michael Walker, and Rev. Mary Beasley. We held meetings to organize the new work in various locations. Our first worship service was on April 1, 2007, at 9:45 A.M., at the Northgate Optimist Club, 4201 Skyline and Neptune, El Paso, Texas. On May 27, 2007, at 9:45 A.M., our Installation Service was conducted by Rev. Dr. John Paul Jones, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Jackson, Tennessee, and our Inauguration Service at 3:00 P.M., was with Co-Pastor Rev. Michael Walker delivering the message. The FLCC was incorporated in 2009 at 9611 McCombs, El Paso, Texas. The first Deacons were Harold Howell, James Boykins, Doris Evans, and the late Darrell Jackson. The first Deaconesses were Felicia Boykins, Tarrina Evans, Anna Howell, and Sherry Jackson. Sister Norman Jean Ford was appointed “Mother” of the Church. Our first finance committee members were Brother Ellison Beasley and Sister Tarrina Evans. The Church’s growth made seeking a larger facility for ministry activities necessary. On April 19, 2008, FLCC entered into a lease agreement with Chozet Properties for the building at 9611/9613 McCombs. On June 15, 2008, FLCC held its first worship service at 9:45 A.M., with Rev. Zenobia Walker delivering the message. From 2009 to 2011, Rev. Mary Beasley served as Interim Pastor. On April 16, 2011, Rev. Beasley became the Pastor, and her Installation Service was held on July 3, 2011. From March 21, 2014, until present, God answered our prayer for a church building and Blessed us to purchase the building located at 3800 Olympic Avenue, El Paso, Texas, 79904. On Sunday, April 13, 2014, we had our first worship service at our new location. Pastor Beasley preached the 9:45 A.M. Service, and Rev. Melvin Howell, Assistant Pastor of Greater Vision Community Church, Killeen, Texas, conducted our church building dedication service. Again, the faithfulness of God blessed us, and on April 29, 2015, we rendered God’s House “Debt Free”. The Mortgage Burning Services were celebrated on July 16-19, 2015. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!! Since March 21, 2014, until the present, God has richly blessed us to accomplish many improvements. We have remodeled the Sanctuary, choir stand, new lighting, new carpet, and new sound system, added the Media Room and Pastor’s Office, and remodeled the Kitchen. In addition, we have replaced the front entrance door, repaved the parking lot, installed A Church Steeple, and repainted the Church Exterior, to mention a few. Because of God’s faithfulness to us and our obedience to him, we proudly say that all these accomplishments were paid through giving, and we did not have to secure a loan. In April 2017, Rev. Beasley retired and became Pastor Emeritus, and Reverend Mozell Nervis was called to be the new Pastor.

In 2018, Fellowship of Love partnered with the University of Texas At El Paso (UTEP) Black Student Union, to reach outside the four walls of our church to impact the broader El Paso Community. We also hosted Congresswoman Barbara Lee, which was an exciting moment for our youth and the entire congregation. In 2019, we witnessed the marriage of Timothy Deboskie to Thurayya Gillis and the dedication of their son Alex. We also had our Annual Installation of Officers and celebrated the birthday of our own Church Mother, Norman Jean Ford. We continued with our Good Friday Service and Fish Fry in April. We Celebrated the Baptism of Younique, Ariayanna, and Aaliyah, all young ladies, To God Be The Glory. We celebrated Pastor Nervis’ Second Anniversary in July with Guest Speaker Pastor Vickia Brinkley of California. Our very own Deacon Harold Howell was bestowed the honor of “Deacon Emeritus.” These are some of our Highlighted Celebrations of 2019. God has allowed FLCC to gain new members. In April, Alex Deboskie was Baptized. Our youth held their Easter Program. Here we are in our Sixteenth Year of Existence. We have survived the Pandemic! On April 24, 2022, we celebrated our 15th Church Anniversary. First Lady Sabrina Sinegal was the guest speaker. In July, we celebrated Pastor Nervis’ Fifth Anniversary. In May, we held our Annual Clothing Drive and our Mother’s Day Celebration, and we also said farewell to the James Family, who relocated to Phoenix. The Men of FLCC enjoyed a Bowling outing for Father’s Day. MIT Timothy Woodard was licensed. Oro Temple #9 celebrated their Jubilee Day with us, and Alston Kennedy Guild celebrated their Founder’s Day with us. We held a Surprise Wedding Reception in July for Elder James and Janae Chaney. We also had “Dress Down” Sunday, along with the dedication of our New Church Sign. First Lady Sabrina Sinegal was the guest speaker in July as we celebrated Pastor Nervis’ Fifth Anniversary. Elder Arron Brown was the speaker for Youth Sunday. In August, Ms. Zeanita Thoms received our Scholarship. We had the pleasure of Worshiping with several Masonic Organizations in September. Breast Cancer Awareness and Clergy Appreciation were celebrated in October, as well as our Hallelujah Festival. Minister Timothy Woodard was the speaker for Youth Sunday. The Men of FLCC held their Prayer Breakfast on November 12, with Pastor Stan Sparrow of Greater Corinth Baptist Church as the Guest Speaker. We had our Family and Friends Sunday on November 27, 2022. The Widows Ministry provided Food Baskets to Families in need for Thanksgiving. The year 2022 ended with our Church Fellowship Dinner at the Edge of Texas, Youth Christmas Program, and our Watch Night Service. We are excited about God’s plans for the Fellowship of Love’s Future! To God Be The Glory for the things he has done and continues to do!!!
